New 89C4.com BETA

img_main_911_profile_green

Welcome Porsche fans. Many of you familiar with this site have found it via Natural Search/Organic Search or as of late on Twitter. This site was created years ago in a static format. That means when I wanted to post, I modified HTML, created my own archive (manually), didn’t have search, etc. It worked when it was small, but lately it had become a pain in the ass. So, I’ve moved over to WordPress. Main reasons:

  • Dynamic Content
  • Subscription Ability (RSS)
  • Better Search Engine Optimization
  • Dynamic Sitemap.xml creation
  • Site Search
  • User Commenting
  • Larger Image Display Area
  • Better service integration (Twitter, Twitpic, etc.)
  • Easier video integration

So there you have it. Same type of content, different format. There are some structural changes here as well:

  • The traditional “navigation” is still here, but has been moved to the footer. The purpose of this is to focus on the BLOG content and imagery. Each section is still there, specifically the photographs, cost section, and upgrades. Look in the future to new videos, new photos, and help me god – new updated costs.
  • The sightings section is also still there, but I’m importing all my cell images here (since most of those are just that, just formatted a little nicer).

So there you have it. If you have any comments, suggestions, wants, hates, whatever, just drop me a line using the new form over in the Contact section.

Lastly, why is this still in BETA? Well, for those that are frequent readers you will remember the old site had a rotating promo image space at the top, and I would reference in my posts to “hit refresh to see additional images…” That isn’t around any longer. I haven’t change all the old post to remove that language. I’ve also not linked all all old content. I’m also missing a few links to PDFs. It’s a shit-ton of content to port over, so I’m still working on that. I’m also jacking with the styling of a few sections (namely the Sightings section). When she’s out of BETA I’m sure I’ll talk about it.

Thanks everyone. New content to come soon.

Wheat Thins as Sound Deadeners?

img_wheat_thins

One more thing… I needed a new rear seat belt because mine is locked up. I took the rear apart and to my surprise it was littered with Wheat Thins! What the fuck? Makes no sense to me at all, but yet here they all were. Took out the shop vac. and sucked all the stale suckers up.

So, anyone else find weird shit in their Porsche’s while fixing an issue? A crazy find from a previous owner? Let me know.

Temperature Control Unit

I pinged LA Dismantler about a “want” list a while back. They sent me a good quote, but I sat on it for a while. Pinged them back and in a week got my shipment. First thing I noticed was on the front of the temperature control unit; missing graphics. Next thing that got me was the fact that the seat belts didn’t work. Irritated, as you could imagine, was I. I called them, but my contact there was out. He was going to call me “…first thing Monday.” No call. Week later I emailed and got a response. I sent all the stuff back. Got both a phone call and email from my contact. They were very sorry, he would personally check my items, etc. That was over a week ago. No new parts. Not that it really matters now because my temp issue was lack of heat, and we are in Summer now, it’s the principle! We’ll see if the new unit actually works and has all the graphics intact this go around.

Happy Easter Gang

This is an old video (last year) but still a fun one. Kids asked if we are doing another one today… I’m sick as a dog, but who knows. Check back later to see if I get off my ass and go bunny hunting.
