Porsche Poll Time

I’m in the process of doing some Porsche research and I’d love your help. Quick, dirty, real simple question to help me out. I’m going to be posting a series of three different polls over the next week or so. Answer as best you can. I’m allowing 3 selections on this first poll. Any questions, let me know.

Which used Porsche are you realistically wanting in your garage?

Porsche Panamera Promo Video

Found this promo video on YouTube for the Panamera. Thought it was cool enough to post here (I know, I know, this is suppose to be a 964 site..)

Replace Your Heater Control Unit

Just shot this to walk those through the process of replacing the heater control unit in their 964’s. It’s pretty damn easy. Watching the video is almost pointless, but you do get to hear my stellar ramblings. On her way out to garage sales my wife says “..so, did you fix it?” I said no, this was just a tutorial video on how to replace/swap units. She says “..so, you are doing a tutorial on how NOT to fix your heater..” She’s a peach. Enjoy.

Twitter Updater is Pissing Me Off

I am yet again attempting to accomplish what I have selected as an action for delivery notifications to Twitter when I create new posts. Why isn’t it working, I have no idea? Here, let me add in a photo to make this look like an actual post. WORK!

Newly Added TwitPic On Right Sidebar

Just added integration from TwitPic to 89c4.com. You’ll notice the new 6 stacked images on the right-hand-sidebar just under the Twitter updates. I’ve been shooting mostly from my cell these days, so I wanted to provide those who do not follow me on either Twitter or TwitPic the opportunity to see the cool shots I find related to Porsche’s. Enjoy.

Fixing Minor Details

img_main_broken_foglights

Took care of the rear seat-belt yesterday, which is a first for my ownership. When the whole family would take a drive, someone was always riding free; not so safe. We have yet to take a family drive.

Just replaced the broken passenger fog lens. Was planning on replacing the drivers seat-belt, but I can’t find the damn thing. Too much crap in the garage, and not thinking the wife will enjoy me cleaning out the garage on Mother’s day.

I swapped out the heater control unit I got from LA Dismantler, but it still hasn’t fixed the problem so I have to send that back to them. Not sure what to do at this point.. any ideas people?

Top Gear : Budget Porsche’s

I was doing research for work (seriously, I was) and I found this. Freaking hilarious. From back in 2004, the guys take a 924, 928, 944, and drive to Brighton. $2K (£1500 quid). It’s quality Top Gear. For those that have issues with the video above, here is the direct link:

Budget Porsches SEASON 5 / EPISODE 6 | December 05, 2004 | LENGTH 9:40

Side note, I would love to buy a beater for $2000 and play around with it. Wife would kill me. I’d want to spend even more on fixing her up, we’d fight, my HOA would see it as a blight on the street and fine me, wouldn’t pass inspection… sounds like a freaking blast.

Parts should be here on Tuesday

img_main_missing_bumper

Just received notification from FedEx that my new package from LA Dismantler will arrive by Tuesday. This will hopefully take care of the rear seat-belt, heating issue, and I can replace the drivers seat-belt as well (it’s fine, expect it looks as if someone had a razor in their pocket and it kept rubbing against the bet; a bit frayed about 1/2 an inch).

I’ve yet to replace the fog lens. With the rain this weekend, hopefully I’ll get a nice chunk of hours to take care of that.

I posted over on Twitter about the MPG I’ve been noticing lately… I’m getting about 425 miles out of a full tank. If the stats are correct, and I have a tank capacity of 20.3 gallons, that works out to be 20.93596059113, or 21. That’s a blended rate of both highway and city. Not bad indeed, if I do say so. Next trip I make I’m going to really watch the highway number to see what I can do to increase. If I take out the back seats I bet I could get a couple more miles to the gallon… kids might be pissed though.

Also, the image up there is from when I had the paint repaired from when I was keyed… was cool seeing the back end taken off.

Lastly, I’m testing integration with posting and auto Twittering.
